An automatic door, identical to those that welcome users of administrative buildings and customers of shopping centres, is found placed at the centre of the exhibition space, transforming its conventional use into a metaphorical one; that of a passage through space, from one world to another. The door is programmed to open and close in an automatic and random fashion, without heeding one’s presence. Rather than welcoming visitors it ignores them, keeping them at a distance, rejecting them, and imposing its autonomy as an animated object by means of an incomprehensible form of behaviour.
